Jobs after programme

Providing opportunities for young people to acquire skills is one of the methods through which the national peace programme is pursuing its objectives.

The suggestion from the Minister of State in the Office of the Attorney General with responsibility for Crime Prevention, Corey Lane, who says participants in the programme learn to be productive citizens who contribute to the economy.

Two of the programmes that are running at the moment are bartending and barbering classes, with 24 students enrolled for six weeks.

Speaking today while visiting the programmes, Minister Lane said while the main aim is to help and show that there are positive alternatives for at-risk youth, the reality is that having skills can also put them on a career path.

Meanwhile, Director of East to West Enterprises, Timothy McClean, who is also the Project Manager for the Elevate the Peace Programme, announced that jobs will be available for some of the participants who complete the courses.
