Barbados is moving to improve its systems for collecting and managing agricultural data.
The revelation from Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Indar Weir.
He says the absence of adequate and appropriate infrastructure limits the country’s ability to optimally manage the data collected.
Mr. Weir was speaking at the start of a multi-stakeholder dialogue on national data infrastructure, convened by the Commonwealth Secretariat.
The Minister welcomes the discussions, as he notes Government’s strategic policy interventions are being constrained by a lack of the necessary infrastructure.
He has also confirmed plans to undertake an agricultural census.
