Melissa Jefferson-Wooden (USA) said she would rather race in the heat than battle strong headwinds again, recalling a tough windy stretch during her time competing at Grand Slam Track in Kingston, Jamaica.

Jefferson-Wooden made the comments Wednesday at the Weltklasse Zürich press conference, responding to a question from Colin Jackson. She recalled running into a powerful headwind in Kingston strong enough, she said, that she wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

The women’s 200m final at the Kingston leg was run into a wind reading of -4.7 meters per second, among the toughest conditions on the circuit this season. Jefferson-Wooden won that race in 23.46 seconds, ahead of Jenna Prandini (USA), who finished second in 23.56. Jacious Sears (USA) placed third in 23.79, and Jamaica’s Kemba Nelson was fourth in 23.84.
