CDEMA: Assessment in members states ongoing after Beryl

The Barbados-based Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) is reporting six of its member states were impacted by the passage of Hurricane Beryl as it moved across the Windward Islands.

Countries affected included Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.

While Dominica reported minimal damage, Executive Director Elizabeth Riley says islands in the southern Grenadines bore the brunt.

She says assessment in member states are still ongoing.

CDEMA has since activated its Regional Coordination Plan along with its Regional Coordination Centre.

Focusing on assessment for Barbados so far, Ms. Riley says damage was reported to homes and infrastructure along the island’s coasts.
