Government will tap into Japan’s farming expertise to help boost the country’s agricultural food production systems.
According to Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security Indar Weir, this would be a necessary move to transition farmers to a more secure environment.
The Minister was speaking about the benefits local farmers can reap from the cutting-edge technology being used in Japan’s agricultural sector, when Japanese Ambassador to Barbados, Her Excellency Kayoko Fukushima paid a courtesy visit to his Ministry.
Mr. Weir says Barbados accepts the Ambassador’s invitation for officials to participate in the upcoming Green Expo in Japan, since it could benefit the country’s horticulture sector.
Meanwhile Ambassador Fukushima says Japan, also focused on improving its food security, is willing to extend a helping hand to local farmers through several initiatives.
