The Barbados Workers’ Union is highlighting the critical need for continuous training for seafarers.

This follows the Union’s participation in a two-day conference organised by the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF).

Communications & Information Specialist with the BWU, Miracle-Ann King, says health and safety training at the island’s ports is essential to ensuring a safe environment for all workers.

Inspector Coordinator with the ITF Steve Trout, says the agency can now provide more robust support to seafarers in more than a hundred countries.
