Starting next Tuesday, Barbadians depositing cheques will have access to their funds within one business day.
This is because the Central Bank of Barbados is modernising its payment system through the cheque digitisation programme.
And Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Kevin Greenidge says this move is critical to facilitate real-time payments and the ease of doing business.
Additionally, the Governor says like all new systems they expect teething issues, and have allowed for a testing phase.
