Hundreds of young Barbadians have benefitted from training and have secured employment through Government’s Job Start Plus Programme.
It was introduced for young Barbadians 16 to 24 years by the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Third Sector, to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers.
Programme Officer with the Ministry, Moreen Bowen revealed some 450 people were trained since the initiative’s introduction in 2019.
Overall she says there have been good responses, not only from young people, but also from the Programme’s partners.
The Job Start Plus Programme is set to welcome its latest cohort come November.
Programme Assistant, Diante Collymore says training, which will be provided for two weeks, covers a range of topics, including time management and resume writing.
Mr. Collymore himself is a product of the initiative.
