Jamaican jockey Jerome Innis rode his first-ever winner on North American soil after landing the third event on Wednesday’s eight-race card at Thistledown in Ohio.

Innis, who is on his first riding stint in the United States, made all the running aboard 3-5 favourite Empire Vybz for Jamaican champion trainer Jason DaCosta in the five-furlong race on the dirt.

The race was a maiden special weight contest for two-year-olds with a purse of US$33,900.
