Juliet Campbell Returns to St. Jago as Track and Field Head

According to Nationwide News, Juliet Campbell has been named head of the track and field program at St. Jago High School — a homecoming for the former national sprinter, back at the Spanish Town school where her athletic journey began.

In her prime, Campbell represented Jamaica on some of the sport’s biggest stages… competing in the 200 and 400 meters at the World Championships… the World Indoor Championships… the Commonwealth Games… and the Central American and Caribbean Games. She’s also a former CARIFTA gold medalist in the 400 meters.

Nationwide News reports the appointment is a full-circle moment for Campbell, who actually started out at St. Jago as a high jumper… before making the switch to the quarter-mile and the 200 meters. That transition would go on to carry her to success… at the high school… collegiate… and professional levels.

In her own words, Campbell says… quote… "St. Jago gave me the beginning of my journey, and coming back now in this capacity is incredibly meaningful to me. I know what it feels like to be a young athlete with a dream."… end quote.

Keith Senior, chairman of the St. Jago Foundation, says Campbell’s appointment is the right choice for the program at this moment. And Principal Collete Pryce says the partnership with Campbell will be a valuable one for the school.
