Government is making it clear that no UN agency is dictating any social policy in Barbados.
The assertion from Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey.
He was responding to concerns raised about the country’s obligations as a signatory of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Mr. Humphrey says while the Child Protection Bill is aligned with the convention, it is drafted with the Barbadian reality in mind.
He explains the country is not bound by any amendments of the articles of the convention.
