Officials at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital are expected to get the first drawdown of $65 million, out of its $130 million dollar Capital Expenditure Programme within a number of weeks.
And the first order of business is to order new pieces of equipment and to build the hospital’s capacity over the next few months.
This is according to Director of Engineering Paula Agbowu who was speaking on today’s Pulse radio show on Q100.7 F.M.
Ms. Agbowu notes the QEH has a listing of 19,126 pieces of equipment; 7,000 of which are medical and over 12,000 listed as non-medical.
She adds the hospital is set to acquire a new linear accelerator that will be used to treat oncology cases.
They hope to have it operational by year-end as some infrastructural work also needs to take place first.
